orning: Begin your Simien Mountains adventure with a scenic drive from Gondar to Michibiny. Stop at the park headquarters to arrange permits and immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes.
Afternoon: Embark on a moderate 2–3-hour hike to Sankaber, acclimatizing to the altitude and enjoying the stunning scenery. Encounter friendly gelada baboons and picturesque viewpoints.
Evening: Camp under the starry sky, surrounded by the tranquility of the mountains.
- Morning: Prepare for a challenging but rewarding 5-6 hour hike to Gich. Traverse through diverse landscapes, including highland grasslands, heather forests, and dramatic escarpments.
- Afternoon: Reach the stunning Jinbar Falls, a cascading waterfall that plunges hundreds of meters into the abyss. Continue to Gich,where you’ll warm up with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony or hot spiced wine by the crackling campfire.
- Morning: Embark on a challenging 7-8 hour hike to Chennek, passing through the picturesque Gich Plateau. Summit Imet Gogo for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
- Afternoon: Continue to Chennek, a prime spot for spotting the elusive Walia Ibex. Camp for the night, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
- Morning: Tackle the challenging Bwahit Pass, reaching an altitude of over 4,200 meters. For the adventurous, summit Bwahit Peak, offering panoramic views of the Ethiopian Highlands.
- Afternoon: Descend into the Mesheha River valley and continue to Ambiko, where you’ll camp for the night.
- Morning: Early morning departure for the summit of Ras Dashen, Ethiopia’s highest peak. The 6-hour ascent is challenging but rewarding.
- Afternoon: Descend back to Ambiko, savoring the sense of accomplishment.
- Morning: Hike down to Chiro Leba, a small village at the edge of theSimien Mountains National Park.
- Afternoon: Enjoy a scenic drive back to Gondar, reflecting on your incredible adventure.
