Fendika Cultural Center, originally known as Fendika Azmari Bet, is a cultural institution dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Ethiopian music and dance. Founded in the early 1990s, Fendika has become a beloved gathering place for both locals and international visitors.

Under the leadership of Melaku Belachew, Fendika has pioneered a new model for supporting artists. By providing monthly salaries to musicians and dancers, Fendika ensures that artists can focus on their craft without relying solely on tips. This innovative approach has empowered countless artists and contributed to the vibrant cultural scene of Addis Ababa.

Fendika has also played a crucial role in promoting Ethiopian culture globally. The Fendika Touring Group has performed at prestigious venues around the world, captivating audiences with their energetic performances. In 2016, Fendika expanded its operations to include the Fendika Art Gallery, which showcases the work of both established and emerging artists. The gallery hosts monthly exhibitions, featuring a diverse range of artistic expressions.
