Omo National Park

Omo National Park:
A Wild and Untamed Frontier

Ethiopia’s Last Great Wilderness

Nestled in the remote southwestern corner of Ethiopia, Omo National Park is a vast and unspoiled wilderness, spanning an impressive 4,068 square kilometers. Adjacent to the mighty Omo River, the park is a treasure trove of biodiversity, boasting a remarkable range of wildlife.

A Wildlife Haven

Omo National Park is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Home to over 300 species of birds, the park is also renowned for its large herds of eland, buffalo, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, lions, leopards, and Burchell’s zebras. The park’s diverse ecosystems provide a haven for a wide variety of species, making it a true adventurer’s paradise.

A Remote and Challenging Destination

Omo National Park is not for the faint of heart. The park is relatively inaccessible, with the current means of access being via Omorate and a ferry crossing of the Omo River. The park headquarters are located 75 kilometers from the Kibish settlement, adding to the sense of adventure and remoteness. However, recent developments, including a new airstrip and plans for a campsite on the Mui River, promise to improve accessibility in the future.
